Potter's Fields (Wheeler Large Print Book Series (Paper))
Published in Paperback by Wheeler Pub (October, 1997)
Average review score:

I only wish I could give 6 starsThis is it. This book is by far the most powerful thing I have ever read. I actually cried as I read the ending. This is the first book by Mr. Roderus that I have read but it will certainly not be the last. I have only 3 words of advise to you if you have not yet read this one. "BUY IT NOW !" This one will change your life.
A great achievementIn my opinion few writers can handle a novel where very few characters are onstage. Mr Roderus has given us a great novel. I read Potter's Fields at one sitting and I am sure that you will too. I was right there with Joe Potter in that line shack. I looked around and saw how miserable and ornery and cold it was and how a man carries more than just his emotions around with him. And how the tenderness of a woman is something that man ignores to his detriment. In short, this book is great -- buy it.

Action packedIn a story line that grabs your attention and holds it is a hero that exemplifies the tough and proud western man. Action and drama packed with more gun play than seems possible and a touch of humor that makes for an interesting read. A true western.

He does it againOnce again Mr Johnstone has given us a true american hero. A no holds barred man who knows what is right and goes about making things right. Not a dainty fellow Frank Morgan (the hero)is a real person with real problems. His life has been turned upside down and now he has to deal with the consequences of a long lost son and a former wife who is killed as the reconciliation was just begining. His son doesn't respect him but, his fatherly love makes Frank stick with the boy. Wrap this story in action and historical tidbits and you have a fine story to enjoy over and over again. Johnstone's thoughts society and the lack of responsibility for one's actions comes through. An excellent edition to any Western Library...Any library for that matter. Get it today.

Sierra: A Novel of the California Gold Rush
Published in Hardcover by Forge (September, 1996)
Average review score:

Read it! The Sierra's have so much to offer...I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in historical events, especially those of our wild west frontier!
Although this is a fictional story, I believe every word to be true for some gold prospector years ago.
The author does an excellent job keeping the pace moving and allowing you to turn page after page without hesitation.
Don't expect to put it down after reading it! It is that good and has a very redeemable story line. Read what some of the family member went through in search for gold.
Gold can be mined from the heart as well as the earth.Richard S. Wheeler writes a tale of love and adventure in the Sierra Mountains. With the tools of a poet and the knowledge of a historian, he spins a tale of the Old West and the contemporary heart.

The Social Fabric, Volume I (8th Edition)
Published in Paperback by Longman (October, 1998)
Average review score:

Excellent companion to standard American history textbookI decided to use this book as a companion reader in a course in American history this year. This series of essays, which consist primarily of topics in social history, are an excellent complement to our very traditional textbook, which stresses political and diplomatic history. The authors of the essays are top names in the field, and the student response to the essays has been fantastic. I highly recommend this book as a teaching aide!
Excellent Collection of ReadingsThe Social Fabric presents a detailed array of readings insocial history for any United States History course. The readingsspecifically encourage two main revelations: U.S. History has many more interesting stories than the textbooks reveal and the historian's craft is much more complex than many students admit. The anthology is entirely engaging with details about daily life and customs. This book makes great general reading and should be required for all U.S. History courses.

Someday Soon (Wheeler Large Print Book Series (Paper))
Published in Paperback by Wheeler Pub (July, 2000)
Average review score:

Good bookThe book was moving. I actually cried (I hardly cry). However, I felt that the other characters like Bailey and Stan should get their own stories.
Action, love, and dangerDebbie Macomber's SOMEDAY SOON, which is the prequel to SOONER OR LATER is a wonderful contemporary about a young widow, Linette Collins, who becomes involved with the head of a mercenary group, Cain McClellan. She's reluctant to love and lose again, and Cain, well he's never even CONSIDERED having a "permanent" woman. But, his days of reckless abandon are numbered when he falls in love with Linette--much to the chagrin of his mercenary buddies--and almost loses her to international terorists. buddies.

Conclusion: "Awaiting the Redemption of Our Bodies": The Limits of Medicine and Bioethics
Practical insight for Christians w/ medical issues/decisionsThis book's contribution is to illuminate (carefully, clearly, concisely, in simple yet stirring terms) the difference which being a Christian makes for those who are faced with biomedical issues and/or decisions, whether as ethicists, pastors, chaplains, patients or family of patients. It's a book you can use 'on the firing line', in the immediate area suggested by its title, but one which also stimulates thinking at a more general level (what difference does being a Christian make in the context of _business_ decisionmaking? of family?) and which, through analogy at least, points out a useful approach in these broader contexts.

The Tea Party Book
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (May, 1993)
Average review score:

This is the sweetest, most adorable book!I've had this book since I was very small (when it just came out) and I loved it! I was going through some old stuff in may basement about a week ago and found it, and BOOM! Rushing back came all these memories. this is a great book, especially if you are a slightly romantic six- year- old. It's a wonderful sort-of hands-on type thing, and my book still smells slightly of cloud cookies. :)
Excellent for tea parties enthusiasts of all ages. This delightful book is one of my favorites. It encourages creativity for children and the adults in their lives. My teenage daughter and her friend enjoyed a "Teddy Bear Tea", making placemats, dragging out stuffed animals, and preparing special foods to share with each other. I've bought an extra copy to tuck away in case I ever have a grandchild to share it with!
